Course Description:

This course provides an exploration of our universe through descriptive studies of our solar system, planets, stars, constellations, black holes, galaxies, quasars, cosmology, galactic and stellar evolution. Other topics included are artificial satellites, the space program, energy problems and discussion about the possibility of extraterrestrial life. Emphasis is placed on the appreciation of astronomy through scientific reasoning, methodology and precision, and on the importance of astronomy as an integral part of the everyday life of the individual.
