Course Description:

An introduction to the physical, chemical and biological nature of the oceans. Topics include: the history and shape of the oceans; the physical and chemical properties of sea water; waves, tides and ocean currents; and the biology and ecology of marine life. (Due to similarity in subject matter, both OCE2001 and BSC1311 cannot be used to meet general education requirements. One or the other can be used to fulfill one of the science requirements).
