This course provides the RN to BSN student with an opportunity to participate in a community practice setting environment. Exploration of principles (epidemiological, cultural, social and financial factors) affecting health promotion and delivery of care in a variety of different community group practice settings will allow the student to utilize teaching learning principles to improve selected health outcomes for a culturally diverse population. Recognition of Healthy People 2020 objectives will serve as a framework for health promotion content. Clinical immersion experience for this course will require the individual student to develop a needs based assessment for a selected community group. In conjunction with an established preceptor, the student will implement and analyze the needs assessment to help improve health outcomes for the selected community group.
